The torrential down pours didn't prevent a record number of guests from gathering on Friday, October 16, in support of this year's Friends of the Seminary Gala. The event that sold out two weeks prior, broke records for attendance and funds raised.
Most Rev. Thomas G. Wenski, Archbishop of Miami, celebrated mass in St. Vincent's Chapel along with the Bishops of the Board of Trustees. After mass, the St. Vincent de Paul awards were presented to Msgr. Vincent Kelly, for witness of his life as an educator, administrator and shepherd of souls; a living testimony to the priesthood and his patron St. Vincent de Paul. Sr. Yamile Saieh, FMA was recognized for her witness to the "Joy of the Gospel: as an educator, mentor and and encourager of immigrant communities throughout her life as a Daughter of Mary Help of Christians.
Following the awards, guests enjoyed a cocktail reception and formal dinner. It was a beautiful evening and many thanks go out to David and Robyn Diaz, from the Archdiocese of Miami who did a stellar job chairing the event.
