EPISCOPAL ORDINATION - Bishop-elect Gregg Caggianelli
Friday, May 9, 2025, will be a significant day for the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS), the Diocese of Venice in Florida, and St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary (SVDP). On this date, at 2:00 pm, Bishop-elect Gregg M. Caggianelli, CH, Col, USAF, will be ordained and installed as the Auxiliary Bishop for the Archdiocese of the Military Services at St. Vincent Chapel. His Excellency, the Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, J.C.D., Archbishop for the Military Services and President of USCCB, will ordain Bishop-elect Caggianelli, with Most Reverend Frank J. Dewane, Bishop of Venice in Florida, and Bishop David L. Toups, Bishop of Beaumont, serving as principal co-consecrators.
Bishop-elect Caggianelli, originally from Kingston, New York, was ordained as a priest on October 25, 2002, for the Diocese of Venice in Florida. He has nearly 30 years of service and currently held a position with the Air Force Reserve at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO, where he served as the senior Reserve advisor to the USAFA Chaplain and senior team leader for the Academy's Reserve chaplains and religious affairs airmen. Since 2013, Bishop-Elect Caggianelli served in a variety of capacities at SVDP, including Director of Field Ministry, Dean of Pastoral Formation, and Assistant Professor of Homiletics. Since 2019, he has served as Dean of Human Formation and since 2020, as Vice Rector.
We are immensely grateful for his remarkable years of service to us, and we pray that God abundantly blesses him and his ministry. Bishop-Elect Caggianelli has chosen as his motto, “My grace is sufficient” (2 Cor 12:9). May God continue to fill Bishop-Elect Caggianelli with his grace as he serves our men and women in uniform, for the glory of God.
