What are Matching Gifts?
How do they work?
"Presbyters who preside well deserve double honor, especially those who toil in preaching and teaching." – 1 Timothy 5:17
Employer matching gifts are workplace benefits where companies match the charitable contributions their employees (and often retirees or spouses) make to eligible nonprofits. Many match at a 1:1 ratio—some even higher—so a 100 dollar gift can quickly become 200 dollars or more for St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary.
To see if you can request a matching gift:
- Check your HR or benefits portal for “matching gifts,” “employee match,” or “workplace giving,” or ask your HR department directly.
- Use your SVDP gift receipt to complete your employer’s simple online form; your company then sends the matching contribution directly to the seminary.
- If you do submit a match request, please let us know at development@svdp.edu so we can watch for it and properly acknowledge your generosity.
Taking a few minutes to explore this benefit is one of the easiest ways to increase your impact on priestly formation without increasing your out‑of‑pocket gift.
