One of the most effective ways to form priests for the Church in the Southeast.

When you give securities you have held longer than one year, you may avoid the capital gains tax you would owe if you sold them, and you may claim a charitable deduction for their full fair market value. Your gift goes further, and so does your tax benefit.

Three steps

How to make your gift

STEP 01

Let us know it is coming

Call the Office of Development at (561) 623-8017 or email development@svdp.edu with your name, the security, the number of shares, and the date you expect to transfer.

STEP 02

Give your broker the instructions

Share the delivery details below with your broker. They are all your broker needs to complete the transfer.

STEP 03

Send us the completed form

Complete the Stock Transfer Instructions form and email a copy to the Office of Development.

Good to know

A few things worth knowing
Mutual funds take longer

Mutual fund shares transfer by a different process and take longer to complete. Please call the Office of Development before initiating a mutual fund transfer.

What your receipt will show

Your receipt will list the security, the number of shares, and the date the shares were received in the seminary's account, as the IRS requires for gifts of non-cash property. Your tax advisor determines the deductible value.

Year-end gifts

Transfers take several business days to settle. For a gift to be credited in the current tax year, the shares must be received by December 31. Please begin by mid-December and let us know it is coming.

Directing your gift

If you would like your gift directed to a particular purpose, seminarian education, the endowment, or another need close to your heart, simply tell us and we will honor it.

A note on security

Our delivery instructions do not change. If you receive a form, an email, or a telephone call giving different delivery details, please contact the Office of Development at (561) 623-8017 before transferring. We would always rather answer that call than see your generosity go astray.
